Welcome to the #GetToKnow Series
A series where I get to interview people who are willing to put themselves out there and share their stories on how they are kicking ass and taking names in their everyday lives.
Enjoy getting to know:
The Amarla and I met one night at a bar about 5 is years ago, where we bonded over her amazing style and how much I wanted to work with her. She then asked me the one question that sealed in our new friendship
"Do you ever get told you look like Shay Mitchell from pretty little liar."
-What would you classify yourself as in your industry?
"An influencer and content creator; brands send me products to try out and then it is my responsibility to create a product review on my website or an image they can use for their social media in return. "
-What company do you work for, if any, and title for them?
"I work for myself but I am signed to The Sociable Society."
-What kind of impact do you want to have for those watching your journey unfold?
"I want to inspire people to be creative in their universe. I like seeing people wear unique, one of kind outfits and thinking outside of the « norm » fashion, beauty, and art industries have. For example, I like thrifting my clothes because it gives me a certain « one of a kind » feel to my outfits. I know there are probably many other garments like the ones I have, but to be able to find the EXACT garment I have would be rare and surprising. When I tell people my outfits are thrifted they sometimes get discouraged that they can’t go out and buy the pieces I’m wearing like they can with most trends. However after that split second they start to think how they can experiment and become inspired with either my style or other’s to achieve certain looks. To me that’s a step in the right direction to being creative in their universe. "
-What do you love about what you do?
"I love creating. I love experimenting with different edits and different angles when it comes to photography. I love experimenting with different products and creating content for amazing companies. I love the creative freedom I have with my job."
-How many years have you devoted to this craft?
-What inspires/motivates you?
"Others who tell me their stories about how they made it in their industry and their journey so far. I love being inspired by others and their hard work."
-Favorite quote? (can be something funny or serious that you reference a lot)
"Know your worth then add tax. "
-What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
"Animal rescue! I would love to be a part of an organization that stops poachers and illegal animal trade."
-If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
"Edit and create more content for my followers! "
-What is something people don’t know about you that you don’t mind sharing?
"I am an extremely shy person. I hate small talk. I actively avoid situations where it could happen. Next to trypophobia, public speaking is my worst fear."
-What were you like in high school?
""I was definitely more outgoing in high school and in my early years of college. I was more reckless and daring in everything I did and who I interacted with. The older I get the more reserved I become. If I could tell my younger self anything it would be "Slow down.""
-What do you consider to be your best find?
"My Christian Dior coat which I bought for 10$."
-What’s your favorite piece of clothing you own / owned?
"My light tan beaded blazer or my dark army green trousers. "
-When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?
"Style advice. I don’t know why people do but I’m literally the worst when it comes to style advice. "
-What are some small things that make your day better?
"My fiancé's kind gestures throughout the day. Having a partner who knows how emotionally exhausting it is to run a brand makes my days easier and better without a doubt. That and having enough time to get coffee before getting my day started helps too!"
-Who has impressed you most with what they’ve accomplished?
"You! Duh. I love how much your brand has grown over the years and I’m very fortunate to be able to say I’ve been able to work with you inimately enough to know how much hard work you put into your brand. It’s inspiring to see that regardless of what life throws at you, you manage to always push through it and come out on top. Not to mention your work ethic is outrageous and incomparable. "
-What’s your favorite genre of book or movie?
"I don’t like reading books! Instead, I prefer to read graduate theses that I find online. In regards to movies, my favorite genre is horror."
-How often do you people watch?
"Often! But that comes from preferring to be an observer rather than an active participant in conversation. "
-What’s worth spending more on to get the best?
"Shoes and handbags. A good pair of shoes will never be cheap but they will last you a lifetime. Same goes for handbags. "
-What’s the best way to start the day?
"Relaxed and having enough time to get ready. I try to get my day started 3 hours before I need to be anywhere, if I need to be anywhere. If I don't need to be anywhere my day still starts off early; usually at around 7AM. I begin my days with coffee, emails, and some sort of breakfast."
-What fad or trend do you hope comes back?
-What kind of art do you enjoy most?
"I love sculptures. It’s amazing what people could achieve with the technology they had, which was little to none."
-What city would you most like to live in?
-Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?
"I love creating and seeing others create. It’s so inspiring to me."
-Where would you spend all your time if you could?
"In beautiful places that wouldn't kick me out for taking photos."
-What are you absolutely determined to do?
"To create a community based on love and mutual respect for people in demanding art industries."
