Conversations With.... Kristina

The moment I met Kristina I knew I had to keep following her story. Her genuine personality and infectious smile makes you feel welcomed and like you've known her for so much longer than you have. -What would you classify yourself as in your industry?

"Fitness blogger/influencer"

-What company do you work for, if any, and title for them?

"Social Media Director for a new fitness inspired dating app (Datefit) as well as a personal trainer at Made For More and online coach!"

-What kind of impact do you want to have for those watching your

journey unfold?

"I want people to feel inspired to better themselves and feel excited to start their fitness journey, whether that be with me or on their own!"

-What do you love about what you do?

"I have worked with the older population in cardiac rehab and helped people get in shape after a devastating health scare, so I want to prevent people from ever getting to that point! With coaching and personal training, I want people to see their full potential and feel like their best self <3"

-How many years have you devoted to this hobby/career?

"I have been blogging about health and fitness since my first bikini competition in 2014 and haven’t stopped since. I just recently got certified as a personal trainer (jan. 2018) but have been interning in strength and conditioning etc. all throughout college."

-What inspires/motivates you?

"After working in cardiac rehab and seeing people I care about suffer from disease, I am so motivated by my future self. I don’t want to look back someday and think “I could have been healthier when I was young or if I did ____, I could have prevented this.”

-Favorite quote?

"It’s never too early, to too late, to work towards being the HEALTHIEST you!"

-What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an


"I would like to get into Yoga/Meditation more. If I had all the time in the world I think it would be a cool to get go through yoga teacher certification, so I could become a more relaxed human all together lol."

-if you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra


"Play with my puppy all night and read more! I have a stack of self-improvement books piling up and I feel like I don’t get enough time to dive into them."

-What is something people don’t know about you that you don’t

mind sharing?

"I am the clumsiest person you’ll ever meet. If you’re around me you will see me trip, drop something, or get hurt at least once. I also got voted “most likely to be injured during a game” from my Varsity softball team lol. Another fun fact is that a stranger saved my life in a grocery store parking lot when I was a baby! I was having a seizure and stopped breathing and he grabbed me out of my mom’s car and whisked us away to the hospital. He’s now a family friend!"

-What were you like in high school?

"I was the type of girl that loved being involved in anything and everything possible (&amp; tried to be friends with everyone). I was from a small high school (150 in my graduating class) I was a captain for softball and cheerleading at some point, top 10 in my graduating class, and president of the recycling club (lol). I was secretly a nerd but also had a lot of fun!"

-When people come to you for help, what do they usually want

help with?

"Most messages I receive are people looking to get back on the fitness bandwagon after taking a significant time away from the gym/healthy eating. The biggest struggles that I encounter are people needing help with motivation to get back into the gym and meal prepping food to stay on track."

-What are some small things that make your day better?

"Working out is definitely a must or doing something active. If I skip the gym a few days in a row I don’t feel like myself and I am more irritable if I haven’t had an endorphin rush in a while! Other things that I need daily are…. Caffeine (lots!), time with my puppy and my boyfriend, and a phone call to my mom to catch up or vent "

-Who has impressed you most with what they’ve accomplished?

"Before I even started coaching or personal training, I taught my boyfriend about macros and he has been flexible dieting ever since. His transformation was definitely a cool one to watch and I’m really proud of that!"

-What’s your favorite genre of book or movie?

"Books: definitely self-improvement (Girl Boss, You Are a Baddass, etc). and for movies I love your typical chick-flick but i’m also a big Avengers fan now too!"

-How often do you people watch?

"Oh ALL the time, I’m so bad at that lol".

-What’s worth spending more on to get the best?

"I hate to say this but... makeup! My sister did my makeup for my first bikini competition and taught me how to do it for my next show. After discovering that pricey makeup lasts ALL day for events like that I have become a makeup addict lol (even though I still struggle with girly stuff)."

-What’s a fashion fad you hope comes back?

"Fanny packs! I have a few from vacations and whatnot and I’ve been waiting to wear them forever! I hate carrying purses so once those come back, its game over."

-What’s the best way to start the day?

"In an ideal world, I would love to wake up and workout first thing in the morning. Then drink coffee and journal/read before I start my work day."

-What city would you most like to live in?

"Somewhere warm! I have always loved Hilton Head/Charleston, SC,Tampa, Florida. So, if I ever get the courage to move south, that’s where you’ll find me!"

-Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?

"Working for Datefit kind of happened by fate. My bf introduced me to the company and they were about to launch as I was graduating with my masters. I’m all for a health and fitness inspired company so I got behind it immediately. As for coaching, I was sharing my fitness journey and going to school for Exercise Science and along the way I had so many people (Girls mostly) as for my fitness advice! In the future, I

would love to coach full-time but for now it has become a side hustle for me!"

-Where would you spend all your time if you could?

"Definitely the gym! In college I used to spend hours at the gym: working out, stretching, doing cardio, and sitting in the sauna. Nowadays I am in such a rush with “adult” things that I have to get in and out of the gym so quickly."

-What are you absolutely determined to do?

"I really really want to complete some type of race (half marathon) or Tough Mudder sometime this year. Instead of focusing on bikini competitions, I’d like to focus my

determination on an athletic competition of some sort!"

-Favorite clothing to work out in?

"Forever 21 definitely stepped up their workout-gear line and I am OBSESSED!!! Also, since I have become a certified PT, Lululemon has a program for discounts and I’ve definitely taken advantage and fallen in love with their leggings too."

-Best advice to give someone just starting out on their fitness


"Everyone starts somewhere, don’t compare your chapter 1 to someone else’s chapter 20! Also, set a goal each week to get to the gym x amount of days and go from there. You don’t need to go every day and eat clean 24/7 to see results!"

-Whats your biggest life lesson you’ve taken away from starting

this career choice?

"The biggest life lesson that I’ve learned is that your health is such a gift and we have the power to be as healthy or unhealthy as we want. You only get one body for the rest of your life so take care of it <3"

- Favorite cheat snack?

"Donuts! Peace, Love, and Little donuts were my competition day cheat meals every time!"

-Favorite meal?

"Any type of breakfast food (pancakes, waffles, etc) or tacos!"

-Most recommended protein for protein shakes?

(because we both know there are some nasty ones out there lol)

"I agree, there are some gross protein powders out there! I’ve tried just about every protein powder there is out there, but my all-time favorite was PEscience (peanut butter cookie or snickerdoodle) and I’ve recently started loving EHP (Oxywhey in

mocha). Also if you’re looking for a good vegan protein, their Blessed line is amazing too!"

-What is one last piece of advice you want to give to the person

reading this?

"What are you doing today to help you become the best version of yourself? Whether that’s financially, in your career, or in your fitness- do something today that your future self will thank you for!"
